Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State, will deliver an address at the 44th India Ideas summit at the Chamber of Commerce on June 12. According to a statement released by the US State Department, Pompeo would deliver the keynote address on 'India and US: An Economic Foundation For A Free And Open Indo-Pacific Region'.
The India Idea's summit is a two-day annual conference organized by the US-India Business Council (USIBC) convened to provide a platform for scholars, diplomats and think tanks for high-level dialogues to discuss key issues related to India.
The Secretary's address will be followed by a fireside chat with the president and CEO of Tellurian inc- Meg Gentle. The entire event will be live streamed on the official website of the US Chamber of Commerce.
The U.S.-India Business Council is a business advocacy group, strengthening commercial ties between India and the United States consisting of prominent businessmen of Indian origin in the US along with business giants of America.
The 2018 summit took place on September 5 and 6, 2018 where issues relating to the connectivity between US and India were prominently discussed apart from other key issues such as the future of investment, technology, and collaboration that will help create a future for people in the United States, India and across the Indo-Pacific region. The Summit featured panel discussions and breakout sessions on topics ranging from advancing two-way trade to expanding innovation and social networks, to creating an innovation-friendly data privacy regime. It also featured a startup pitch competition for women entrepreneurs, designed to highlight the importance of supporting female founders through access to investment opportunities and mentorship.
