Kentucky Senator Rand Paul praised President Donald Trump's work on tax reform and his goal of bringing home American troops from wars overseas during his speech at the Republican National Convention.
Senator Paul, who supports libertarian ideas, admitted to not always agreeing with all of Trump's policies but stressed that they share "significant agreements."
"But more important than simple agreement is accomplishment. President Trump gets things done," Paul said. "When some in Congress wanted a so-called revenue-neutral tax plan. Donald Trump and I worked together to make sure that it was a true tax cut."
Paul then transitioned to attacking Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden for a piece of legislation he helped write and pass and a US senator.

"President Trump actually signed the first step act, the first real reform in a generation and one that sought to undo the harm that others like Joe Biden have done," Paul said. "For those of us who lament the Biden crime bill that locked up a generation of young black men. Remember that Biden bragged about a bill that still wreaks havoc among people of color."
As an anti-interventionist, Senator Paul also expressed his support of Trump's plans to bring American troops home from wars that were continued under the Obama Biden administration.

"Joe Biden voted for the Iraq war, which President Trump has long called the worst geopolitical mistake of our generation," Paul said. "I fear Biden will choose war again. He supported the war in Serbia, Syria, Libya. Joe Biden will continue to spill our blood and treasure. President Trump. We'll bring our heroes home. If you hate war like I hate war. If you want us to quit sending 50 billion dollars every year to Afghanistan to build their roads and bridges instead of building them here at home, you need to support President Trump for another term."
Trump has repeatedly promised to get the U.S. out of wars in the Middle East, and the withdrawal of troops could boost his re-election bid in a nation weary of involvement in distant conflicts.
There are currently more than 16,500 soldiers serving under the NATO banner, of which 8,000 are American. Germany has the next largest contingent, with 1,300 troops, followed by Britain with 1,100.
