Washington: US President Donald Trump has once again taken aim at USAID funding, this time alleging that financial assistance to Bangladesh allocated to ‘Strengthen the political landscape’ was used to install a ‘radical left communist’ government after ousting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina . Addressing a packed gathering at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday, Trump linked the $29 million aid package to political instability in Bangladesh.
"$29 million goes to strengthen the political landscape and help them out so that they can vote for a radical left communist in Bangladesh. You got to see who they supported," Trump said, blaming US-backed initiatives for Hasina’s downfall.
After being ousted last year, Sheikh Hasina had sought refuge in India.

US Cancels Funding for India, Bangladesh
The ragging controversy comes after, Elon Musk-led US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) announced the cancellation of the $29 million funding programme in Bangladesh, which was reportedly aimed at "strengthening the political landscape."
DOGE also scrapped another $21 million grant meant for boosting voter turnout in India, further fuelling speculation about US involvement in election-related activities in both countries.
