No Less Than A Movie Scene: Aircraft Snowdrifts After Landing Gear Fails At Russian Airport | Watch

A video has surfaced on social media showing an aircraft drifting on the tarmac as it attempted to land on the snow-filled runway at a Russian airport.

Moscow: A Cargo Aircraft AN-12 flew into snowdrift after it landed on the Novy Urengoy airport in the Yamalo-Nenets autonomous Okrug of Russia on Wednesday. Chilling visuals surfaced showed the Atran Aircraft — RA-11371 that was flying from Sabetta, slipped and drifted on the runway as it attempted to land on the snowballed tarmac.

During the landing attempt, the aircraft’s left landing gear got damaged due to which it drifted on the tarmac after losing control.

The video which is going viral on social media showed the plane landing at the Novy Urengoy airport but as soon as it touched the tarmac, its left landing gear suffered a damage as it failed to lock, which led the plane cruising down and drifting on the snow-filled tarmac. The incident took place at around 11:14 am.

The incident caused the Novy Urengoy to temporarily shut operations.

In a similar incident earlier, a Canadian flight with 80-onboard flipped upside down after it crashed while landing on a snowy tarmac at Canada’s Toronto Airport. The incident took place last month on February 18.

The crash took place at Toronto’s Pearson Airport when the plane attempted landing on the snow covered runway. However, due to extreme weather conditions, the plane flipped and turned upside down. At least 8 people were injured in the crash but fortunately no one died in the incident.

In a similar incident earlier, a Canadian flight with 80-onboard flipped upside down after it crashed while landing on a snowy tarmac at Canada’s Toronto Airport. The incident took place last month on February 18.

The Canadian flight took off from Minneapolis for Toronto. A survivor of the plane crash, who also filmed the incident site after being evacuated out safely from the aircraft at the Toronto Airport said that his plane just crashed… it was upside down, he was in a plane crash, Oh my God.
