Toronto: An Air Canada flight to Paris was forced to return to Toronto after experiencing engine issues during take-off. The Boeing 777, carrying nearly 400 passengers on flight AC872, safely landed back at Toronto Pearson International Airport after 30 minutes, according to local broadcaster CP24.

A video circulating on social media showed flames coming from the plane’s engines. Aviation industry news described the issue as a “compressor stall,” though this has not been confirmed by the airline.

Air Canada confirmed the incident, stating the aircraft will be taken out of service for further evaluation by maintenance and engineering professionals. The plane was inspected by airport response vehicles and taxied to the gate on its own after landing.

A spokesperson for Toronto airport confirmed the safe landing and the plane’s reception by the local fire department. The aircraft departed at around 8:45 pm and returned at 9:50 pm. Passengers would continue their journey to Paris on another plane later that evening.

This incident is the latest in a series of high-profile issues involving Boeing planes, including supply problems with Ryanair and various safety concerns. It also marks the second time in two weeks that an Air Canada plane has had to return to Pearson airport due to engine issues, following a flight to Delhi on May 27 that faced similar problems.
