Humanitarian aid of £30 million, announced by UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, will be provided to support trusted partners, including United Nations agencies on the ground, to deliver lifesaving aid to people in Gaza. The announcement follows his visit to Israel, where meetings were held separately with the President and Prime Minister.

The additional aid announced by the UK for Palestinians, totalling £60 million since the crisis began in October, has been highlighted in the new announcement by Cameron, as stated in the press release from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. In the press release, they called for all parties to continue working for the release of hostages as emphasised by Cameron, who also mentioned that a pause would enable access to life-saving aid for the people of Gaza.

  1. The release of hostages is hoped for, with all parties urged to continue working towards their release, as stated by David Cameron.
  2. The announcement includes an additional Pound 30 million in funding for vital aid, such as shelter and medical provisions.
  3. A fourth UK flight carrying critical supplies has landed in Egypt for onward transfer to Gaza.
  4. Efforts are underway to explore various avenues, including land, maritime, and air routes, to urgently deliver aid into Gaza, emphasizing the need to protect civilians from harm, according to David Cameron.
  5. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office highlighted the importance of the additional funding amid ongoing humanitarian efforts.
  6. Cameron called for increased access to lifesaving support, including medical supplies and fuel, urging progress on the agreement between Israel and Hamas brokered by Qatar and Egypt
  7. The Royal Air Force (RAF) aircraft transported 23 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including 4,500 blankets and 4,500 sleeping mats, for distribution by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

According to UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps, the RAF's commitment to delivering urgent humanitarian support in the region aims to save civilian lives. Further, he stated that the UK is actively contributing to international efforts supporting the humanitarian response in Gaza, collaborating with partners and allies to de-escalate the situation, reported Sky News. Meanwhile, Netanyahu expressed the hope of getting hostages out, acknowledging challenges, and reiterated the commitment to release everyone, followed by a continuation of war aims to eradicate Hamas.
