Donald John Trump is known as a real estate mogul, reality television star, the 45th president of the United States and the Republican presidential nominee for the 2024 election.

He was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York. Trump’s real estate career took off in the late 1970s with projects for hotels, casinos & golf courses around the world.

Most of his business ventures carried the Trump brand and he furthered his name recognition starring in 14 seasons of "The Apprentice.”

Trump won the 2016 presidential election against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton using populist, right-wing messages that resonated in Midwestern swing states.

Trump's polarizing years in the White House were defined by two impeachments, a global pandemic, and an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

The stunning riot came after Trump for months had sowed doubt about the integrity of the 2020 election and refused to accept the result of his defeat.

Yet Trump delivered a number of victories for conservatives during his time in the Oval Office. He appointed three Supreme Court justices, pushed through massive business-friendly tax cuts, and rolled back many government regulations.

After leaving office, Trump was subject to a bewildering range of legal troubles, involving his business dealings to possible election interference.

In May 2024 Trump became the first former president to be convicted of felony crimes as a New York jury found him guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in his hush money trial.

Trump is hoping to retake the White House in 2024, and selected Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate.

During a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, a man tried to assassinate Trump. Trump was struck in the ear but avoided serious injury.
