Buoyed with his vital knocks with the bat, India-born Nikhil Chaudhary has again made reverberations in the Big Bash League. This time with the ball and his celebration. Playing for Hobart Hurricanes, Chaudhary took his first scalp and expressed happiness in the most desi way possible.

Nikhil Chaudhary picks up a wicket in BBL and celebrates in style

The start of the New Year has turned out to be ideal for Nikhil Chaudhary, who picked up his maiden BBL wicket on January 1, 2024, against Sydney Thunder. The off-spinner caught hold of a Cameron Bancroft airborne strike on his bowling. An elated Chaudhary raised his hand and showcased a thigh-five celebration afterwards.

He displayed similar actions later in the game when he took the catch of Daniel Sams while fielding at mid-wicket region.

Nikhil Chaudhary also trapped Nathan McAndrew in front to get another wicket and finish his quota of four overs with impressive figures of 2/26.

Hurricanes register comprehensive win over Thunder

Adding Chaudhary's performance in the mix, Sydney Thunder struggled to settle in throughout their innings, and no sweeping partnership occurred. As a consequence, Thunder could only accumulate 150 on the board at the loss of 8 wickets. In reply, Hobart Hurricanes experienced a neat start, with Matthew Wade and Caleb Jewell scoring more than 7 in an over during powerplay overs. However, a moment of concern appeared as both the openers fell in quick succession. At 47/2 a collapse was looming, but Mac Wright and Ben McDermott wavered the clouds with utmost efficiency. The two put on an incredible 85-run stand to get the job done for their team. Wright held out when the victory almost became a formality and 12 balls later at the mark of 18.1 overs, Hurricanes achieved the target and won by 7 wickets. Chris Jordan was adjudged the man of the match for his brilliant death bowling and a frugal spell of 2/20 in 4 overs.
