Gangster-turned-politician Anant Kumar Singh, whose MLA wife recently crossed over from the opposition RJD to CM Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), on Sunday walked out of jail on parole. Singh, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a Patna court a couple of years ago in a case under the stringent UAPA, has been released for 15 days, officials said.

The BJP has written to the Election Commission of India seeking action against Congress and the opposition leader, Vijay Wadettiwar, for allegedly peddling lies and defaming its Mumbai North Central nominee and ex-26/11 prosecution lawyer Ujjwal Nikam. Wadettiwar, the leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra legislative assembly, purportedly called Nikam an "anti-national" and accused him of hiding the information that then Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare wasn't killed by Kasab's bullet during the 26/11 terror attack, but fell to a bullet of a policeman affiliated to RSS.

With just two days left for the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka, the Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements to increase voter turnout amid the soaring temperatures in the 14 constituencies that go to the polls on May 7. The first phase of the general elections in 14 of Karnataka's 28 Lok Sabha constituencies was held on April 26, and the second, for the rest of the 14 segments, is on May 7. From arranging shamianas and tents, additional fans and drinking water facilities, to keeping ambulances on standby and using adjacent rooms of the polling booth as waiting areas, the Election Commission is making efforts to ensure that the polling percentage is not affected due to the "harsh summer".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Muslims now understand that the Congress and INDIA bloc are using them as pawns, asserting that the community is distancing itself from them after seeing the development carried out by the BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the arti at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir on Sunday, the first time after the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, which he had performed on January 22 this year. PM Modi tweeted glimpses from his Ayodhya visit today. He wrote it, “पावन अयोध्या धाम के दिव्य-भव्य राम मंदिर में श्री राम लला के दर्शन और पूजन का परम सौभाग्य मिला। I got the good fortune of visiting and worshipping Shri Ram Lalla in the divine and grand Ram temple of the holy Ayodhya Dham.”

Rajiv Pratap Rudy, the BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Saran, said in Bihar today, "Lalu Prasad Yadav's regime was full of fear and violence. Today, we are witnessing the involvement of RJD workers in throwing stones and capturing BJP's campaign vans…It indicates that something is happening in Chapra, which is making Lalu Prasad Yadav and candidates restless. Chhatisgarh Congress leader Radhika Khera has resigned from Congress. She sent her resignation to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. Khera resigned after a dispute with Congressman Sushil Anand Shukla over ‘male chauvinism’. Khera posted on X in Hindi after her resignation that she will keep fighting as a woman and for her countrymen.

“Modi ji has freed the nation from terrorism. During Congress rule, there used to be many terror attacks,” said Amit Shah at a rally in Nizamabad, Telangana, today.

“The Opposition is involved in family politics. They count Mainpuri as their own wealth, Amethi as their own wealth. But Modi counts poor, Dalit as his own,” said PM Modi in a rally in Uttar Pradesh today.

 Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will lead the Lok Sabha poll campaign in Rae Bareli and Amethi, and camp in these parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh from Monday to ensure the party's victory in the two high-profile seats, reported PTI. 

National Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday named its Himachal Pradesh unit president Ravindra Singh Dogra as the party's candidate for the bypoll to the Sujanpur Assembly seat. The Sunjanpur Assembly seat was among the six that fell vacant after the disqualification of as many rebel Congress MLAs from the Himachal Pradesh Assembly.

The disqualified MLAs, including sitting MLA of Sujanpur Rajinder Rana, had voted in favour of the BJP's Rajya Sabha nominee Harsh Mahajan on February 27.

Devender Yadav took charge as the Delhi Congress chief on Sunday. "It is an important day for me. I want to thank the central leadership for showing faith in me. I will work hard to fulfill all my responsibilities and you see that INDI alliance will win all 7 seats in Delhi to strengthen Congress party..." said Yadav after taking charge. 

"The public wants him (Rahul Gandhi) to contest from there (Raebareli). He will win with a margin of lakhs of votes. I made the list of women justice and farmer justice, is it all for Muslims? Their (BJP) intention is to polarise and divide votes through polarization..." said Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Congress fielding Rahul Gandhi from Rae Bareli. 

On Rahul Gandhi contesting from Rae Bareli, BJP leader Gourav Vallabh said that Congress picked second seat for Rahul as winning probability in Wayanad was low. Vallabh recently joined BJP after resigning from Congress. 

"First you contested from one seat (Wayanad). You let voting take place there. You must have gathered some input from there. He (Rahul Gandhi) did not go for another seat before the voting in Wayanad took place. As soon as the voting took place and input came that the winning probability was low, you went for another seat. And that too, not your older seat, a seat where your mother had been contesting... This is a mischief and a fraud with the people of Wayanad... Congress is into self-goal. This is a fraud with the voters of Wayanad and Raebareli..." said Vallabh. 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah while addressing a public meeting in Andgra Pradesh said, "... Jagan Mohan Reddy has derailed the development train. Development is zero, investment is stagnant and unemployment is at its highest. Infrastructure projects are stalled but the industry of land mafias is running in full swing..."

While addressing a public meeting in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said, "... He (Rahul Gandhi) himself does not know what he is going to do. From 2004 to 2014, the Congress government was running well but as soon as Rahul Gandhi was launched, that government fell... In 2019, he was launched again, he was also made the national president but only 52 (MPs) remained and he had to resign from the post."

Congress MLA from Bina, Nirmala Sapre joined BJP in the presence of Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav on Sunday. 

“What do you expect from these family parties? They are limited only to their own families. Be it Congress, National Conference or Samajwadi Party, they have no national agenda but their family is their agenda... On one hand, this alliance insults national heroes and on the other hand, it encourages mafia and terrorist elements,” said Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath. 

"The candidates for Amethi and Raebareli should have been decided on day 1. The correct decision would have been that Priyanka should have contested from Raebareli and Rahul Gandhi from Amethi..." said former Congress leader Rohan Gupta who recently switched to BJP. 

"Raebareli and Amethi have blessed the Congress and Gandhi family for years. The strategy for these two seats should have been a priority for Congress. When Sonia Gandhi was not in Raebareli, KL Sharma was only concentrating on Raebareli. He was not involved in Amethi in 2019 but he was announced as a candidate at the last moment, fearing defeat... Amethi stood with Gandhi family for 31 years, they should not have left Amethi if it did not bless them for 5 years," said former Congress leader Rohan Gupta who recently switched to BJP. 

Congress released a fresh list of 40-star campaigners for Maharashtra this Lok Sabha elections. The list includes Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, party leader Rahul Gandhi, party's general secretary KC Venugopal, party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Balasaheb Thorat among others. 

Several BJP supporters held a meeting in Tel Aviv supporting the re-election of PM Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India for the third term.

Responding to remarks of RJD supremo Lalu Yadav, Chirag Paswan asked if any changes were made to the Constitution in the 10 year tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “For how many more times they will repeat the same thing? Our PM is the Prime Minister for the last 10 years. Was there any threat to reservation, democracy, and the Constitution? Isn’t it the same Congress who declared the emergency?" said Paswan.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma flagged off Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's Bike Rally in Guwahati on Sunday. The bike rally will be held between Khanapara Veterinary Ground and Latashil Ground.

The bike rally has been organised in support of BJP candidate for Guwahati Lok Sabha seat Bijuli Kalita Medhi.

Women of a self-help group in the tribal district Balrampur were seen distributing Sal leaves and yellow rice door-to-door to create awareness among the people of the district to cast their vote. On this, CEO of District Nodal Sweep Program and District Panchayat, Raina Jamil said, “Voting is scheduled for May 7. Eco-friendly invitations have also been sent through the district administration...Sal leaves and yellow (Haldi) rice are being used to create awareness among the people of the district to cast their vote.” 

Congress has filed a complaint with the Election Commission against several BJP leaders for allegedly intimidating members of Schedule caste or tribe to not vote for a particular candidate with an intention to create feelings of enmity, hatred and ill-will against members of SC/ST community and violating model code of conduct by using animated video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah. 

The BJP is trying to portray Congress party as favouring a particular religion and suppressing members of SC/ST and OBC community, said the complaint. 

The Congress has named BJP's national president JP Nadda, BJP social media in-charge Amit Malviya and BJP state president BY Vijayendra in its complaint. 

BJP candidate from Faridkot Hans Raj Hans interacted with people of Moga who had come for a morning walk in the nature park during his campaign trail on Sunday. 

 The BJP government will never change the Constitution or end reservation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, accusing the Congress of creating "fear psychosis" and resorting to spreading misinformation for "vote bank" politics. “Congress brought constitutional amendments 80 times. They changed the Preamble during the Emergency. The BJP will never change the Constitution. Constitution makers never imagined that there would be changes in the Preamble. You (Congress) only acted to hurt the core idea of the Constitution,” said Singh in an exclusive interview to PTI. 

"The way the BJP government has arrested and jailed Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was elected with a huge majority, without any evidence, without any FIR, in the middle of elections, the people of Delhi are furious about this... AAP workers and youth are protesting against this in different ways and are preparing for May 25 to give 'jail ka jawab vote se'..." said Delhi minister and AAP leader as the party held a walkathon in Delhi against Kejriwal's arrest.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will campaign in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Sunday in support of the BJP candidates for the upcoming elections.  According to a release from BJP Telangana unit, Shah would be addressing three separate rallies at Sirpur Kagaznagar, Nizamabad and Hyderabad.

Aam Aadmi Party leaders held a walkathon in the national capital on Sunday. Delhi minister and AAP leaders Gopal Rai and Saurabh Bharadwaj participated in 'Jail ka Jawab Vote se' Walkathon event in support of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently lodged in Tihar jail. 

"This is the first time that he (PM Modi) is coming after the Pran Pratishtha... He will do Darshan first and then there will be a roadshow till Lata Chowk. Saints and Mahants of Ayodhya will also accompany him..." said Chief Priest of Ram Janmabhoomi temple, Acharya Satyendra Das on PM Modi's visit to the holy city.

Former MP Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi, who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections on YSRCP ticket from Visakhapatnam said that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh came up with the concept of three capitals to ensure balanced regional development, decongestion of capital cities and equitable wealth distribution geographically. 

 Lakshmi said that the YSRCP government is committed to decentralization and three capitals.

Preparation underway at Ayodhya's Ram Temple ahead of PM Narendra Modi's visit to Ayodhya. 

Congress on Saturday night named Jay Narayan Patnaik as its candidate for the Puri Lok Sabha seat in Odisha after Sucharita Mohanty pulled out of the race, claiming that the party denied her funds for her campaign.

In a statement issued by Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, the party said its president Mallikarjun Kharge approved the candidature of Patnaik in place of Mohanty.

After former Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj took a swipe at the ruling party, accusing it of "breaking opposition parties".

"The day he resigned from Congress, almost everybody got to know that he would be joining the BJP. This is the politics of BJP, they break other parties but even after doing all these things, INDI alliance is going to win all the 7 seats in Delhi," Saurabh Bharadwaj said.

Prime Minister Modi will visit Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya and will offers prayers on Sunday. He will also hold a roadshow there.
