PM Modi Casts Vote at Nishan School Polling Booth in Ahmedabad, Gives Special Message | WATCH

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi voted for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday, May 7, in Gujarat. PM voted at the Nishan Higher Secondary School in Ranip locality of Ahmedabad city, where he was accompanied by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. 

PM Modi reached the polling booth at Nishan Public School in Ranip locality of Ahmedabad city soon after the polling began at 7 am and cast his vote. Union minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah, who is contesting to retain the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat, was present when Modi reached the polling booth. He felicitated the Prime Minister as he arrived outside the polling booth. 

The Prime Minister greeted people, signed autographs on his way to the polling booth. He bowed down to his elder brother Somabhai Patel before entering the polling booth. Somabhai Patel lives near Nishan School, which falls under Sabarmati assembly segment of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency The PM, who arrived in Ahmedabad on Monday night, also showed his finger inked to  the crowd and waved at them. PM Modi is a registered voter from Ranip area. 

PM's Message to People of the Country 

“Today is the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections. I appeal to everyone to cast their vote in this democracy. The election campaign will run for three to four weeks more. I always cast my vote here in Gujarat," said PM Modi after casting his vote.  "Amit Shah is contesting the election from here as a BJP candidate. I came here yesterday from Andhra Pradesh and need to go to Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Telangana (today),” he added. 

After casting his vote, Prime Minister Modi spoke to the media persons, and advised them to stay hydrated amid rising temperature. He also urged the voters to vote in large numbers in the third phase of Lok Sabha polls. 

World Can Learn From India: PM Modi 

“India's election process, election management is an example for the world's democracies to learn from. The world's biggest universities should do a case study. There are elections in around 64 countries and there should be a comparison of all of them. This year is like a celebration of democracy... I again tell the countrymen to vote in large numbers and celebrate the festival of democracy,” said PM Modi after casting his vote. 

BJP Swept Gujarat in 2014, 2019 

Voting for 25 out of 26 seats in Gujarat is taking place in the third phase of the ongoing general elections on Tuesday. The third phase includes constituencies from Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad East, Ahmedabad West, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Anand, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Chhota Udaipur, Bharuch, Bardoli, Navsari, and Valsad.

BJP in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls swept all 26 seats on offer. This time, the Congress is contesting polls in Gujarat in an alliance with Aam Aadmi Party. Congress is contesting on 24 seats while the AAP has fielded candidates in Bhavnagar and Bharuch constituencies.

Earlier, a 'Run for Vote' marathon was organised in Gujarat's Ahmedabad on Sunday morning to create awareness among youth to cast their votes in the third phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.The marathon was organised as part of the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) drive to promote the importance of 100 per cent voting.
