Mahindra Thar Roxx: Aakash Minda buys Thar Roxx costing Rs 12.99 lakh for Rs 1.31 crore, here's why

Mahindra Thar Roxx auction: Mahindra launched the Thar Roxx, the five-door version of the Thar, on the occasion of Independence Day in India. The company launched the Thar Roxx at Rs 12.99 lakh for the base petrol variant and Rs 13.99 lakh for the base diesel variant. Almost a month after the launch, the automaker has auctioned the first unit of the Thar Roxx with VIN 0001 for a whopping Rs 1.31 crore. The money raised from the auction and a matching amount from Mahindra will be donated to the Naandi Foundation. The auction was held between September 15 and September 16 with Mahindra now confirming the winning bid and delivering the car to the auction winner.

The winning bid of the Mahindra Thar Roxx was made by Aakash Minda, who is the Executive Director of Minda Corporation Limited. This special Thar Roxx is finished in Nebula Blue shade and it is the top-spec trim, AX7 L 4X4 diesel automatic variant. This unit comes with an exclusive badge, which is signed by Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, and a decorative branding plate numbered 001. When the regular three-door version of the Thar was launched in 2020, Akash Minda made the highest bid of Rs 1.11 crore.

Mahindra Thar Roxx AX7 L diesel automatic 4x4 variant is loaded with features such as ventilated front seats, Level-2 ADAS for better safety, a panoramic sunroof, and more. The Mahindra Thar Roxx comes with two engine options.

There is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine on offer. The auctioned model comes equipped with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, producing 172bhp and 370Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive system, which includes low range.

Recently, Mahindra opened the bookings of the Thar Roxx in India. The company recorded massive interest from the customers, and recorded bookings of 1,76,000 units in the first 60 minutes of opening the bookings.
