Tata Motors becomes most-selling commercial vehicle brand despite sales slump

CV sales in August 2024: Tata Motors secured the first position in commercial vehicle sales in August 2024. Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle division recorded the highest market share and became the most selling commercial vehicle manufacturer in August 2024, according to the latest FADA report. Despite topping the charts, Tata Motors still witnessed a decline in sales compared to the previous year.

The Mahindra Commercial Vehicle division got the second rank, while Ashok Leyland also witnessed a marginal decline in sales. Commercial vehicle sales in India saw a demand from customers but still saw a fall in sales. As per the data released by FADA, there was an overall decline in sales of commercial vehicles.  There was a decent dip of 6.05 per cent on a year-on-year basis and 8.50 per cent on a month-on-month basis. 

Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle sales in August 2024:

In August 2024, Tata Motors' commercial vehicle segment recorded total sales of 24,817 units. This has resulted in a decline in sales, of 11.99 per cent on a year-on-year basis and 9.73 per cent. The market share of Tata Motors in August was recorded at 33.88 per cent.

Mahindra Commercial Vehicle sales in August 2024:

In August 2024, the commercial division of Mahindra Automotive recorded a total sale of 18,466 units. This has resulted in a marginal decline of 3.90 per cent on a year-on-year basis and 2.93 per cent on a month-on-month basis. In the previous month, Mahindra recorded a 25.21 per cent market share. 

Ashok Leyland Commercial Vehicle sales in August 2024:

The third position on the list is secured by Ashok Leyland in August 2024. In August, Ashok Leyland recorded total sales of 11,955 units, resulting in a marginal decline of 1.49 per cent on a year-on-year basis and a decline of 14.98 per cent on a month-on-month basis. The market share of Ashok Leyland was recorded at 16.32 per cent in August 2024.
