Budget 2023: Sitharaman presents first budget in 'Amrit Kaal', calls India a 'bright star'

Calling India ‘a bright star’, the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that our country’s economic growth is highest among all major world economies.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday, February 1, presented the full Budget of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi govt 2.0 ahead of the upcoming Assembly and 2024 general elections. Calling India ‘a bright star’, the Finance Minister said that the nation's economic growth is highest among all major world economies. 

Addressing the parliament, Sitharaman said: “The world has recognised India as a bright star in spite of massive global slowdown caused by pandemic and the war. Our growth for the current year is estimated at 7.0 per cent – highest among all the major world economies.”

“The Indian economy is on the right track and is heading to  a bright future. Our focus on reforms and sound policies resulting in Jan Bhagidari helped us in trying times, our rising global profile is due to several accomplishments,” she added.

Budget 2023 termed as ‘Amrit Kaal Budget’

Keeping in line with the theme of 'Amrit Mahotsav' celebrating 75 years of India’s independence, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman termed Budget 2023 as “Amrit Kaal Budget” and said that this Budget hopes to lay foundation for India@100.   

"This is the first budget in Amrit Kaal, this budget hopes to build on the foundation laid in previous budget and the blueprint laid for India@100, we envision a prosperous and inclusive India in which the fruits of development reach all," she asserted.
