Hiring intent for freshers in travel, hospitality sector to rise 15% in H2 2023: Report

With the travel and hospitality industries surging, the hiring intent in the sector is expected to grow by 15 per cent for freshers in the second half of this year, according to a report.

According to the 'Career Outlook Report HY2, 2023' by TeamLease EdTech, a company specialising in learning and employability solutions, the hiring intent for the travel and hospitality sector is projected to reach 15 per cent in H2 (July–December), compared to 10 per cent in the first half of the year.

Top five job roles 

The report identifies the top five job roles that are expected to shape the careers of Indian freshmen in the dynamic travel and hospitality sector. These roles include food and beverage (F&B) associates, travel consultants, event coordinators, junior chefs, and business development executives.

The report is based on a survey conducted among 737 small, medium, and large companies across 18 industries in India, spanning 14 geographical areas, including metros, tier I, and tier II cities.

The report also reveals that a combination of Tier I and II cities will contribute to hiring in the travel and hospitality sectors during the second half of this year. For example, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Gurugram lead in hiring intent for food and beverage (F&B) associates, while Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Indore are top choices for hiring travel consultants. Hyderabad, Chandigarh, and Nagpur have the highest intent to hire freshers for event coordinator roles in H2 2023. Mumbai, Chennai, and Chandigarh are prominent cities for hiring junior chefs, and Chennai, Kolkata, and Pune are key cities for recruiting business development executives.
