Kotak Mahindra bank executive vice chairman and managing director Uday Kotak and Mahindra & Mahindra chairman Anand Mahindra have partaken in a lovely exchange on Twitter over Kotak Mahindra bank surpassing the country's biggest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, in terms of market capitalisation, and entering the country's top-10.

Taking to Twitter to share the news, Anand Mahindra harkened back to Uday Kotak's entrepreneurial origins, writing:

"I can vividly remember when young Uday Kotak-a freshly minted MBA-started his company out of a single room in downtown Mumbai. What an inspiring story of entrepreneurship & creation of wealth in the RIGHT way. So proud of you Uday!"

Uday Kotak is an MBA from Mumbai's prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS). Starting with a borrowed seed fund of $80,000, Kotak had launched Kotak Capital Management Finance, which he eventually grew to a financial services conglomerate that is now the country's fourth-largest bank after HDFC, SBI and ICICI. As of Friday, Kotak Mahindra Bank's market capitalisation stood at Rs 2.22 lakh crore, versus Gurgaon-based Maruti Suzuki's Rs 2.21 lakh crore. Kotak responded to Anand Mahindra, writing:

"Anand thank you. You inspire me. I remember the days when you visited that office more than 30 years ago, and trusted us as an investor and for the family name. I savour our history and love the journey."
