An Air India passenger flight went through a tragic crash on Thursday afternoon, minutes after takeoff.
An Air India passenger flight AI171, crashed minutes after take-off near the Adani-Airport premises on Thursday afternoon.
The flight was headed from Ahmedabad to London and after it crashed a thick veil of smoke was seen around the residential area near Ghoda Camp, Ahmedabad, where the plane crashed.
Reportedly, 242 passengers were on-board and one among them was also the Former Gujarat Chief Minsiter Vijay Rupani.
Of the 242 passengers, reportedly 23 are injured.
As a response Air India changed its profile picture to black on the social media platform X, while mourning the tragic incident.
Additionally, the airline also issued a statement previously on X saying, "Air India confirms that flight AI171, from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in an accident today after take-off."
The airline said that the flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
"Of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals," the airline added in its statement.
Further, it notified that the injured were being taken to the nearest hospitals.
Air India has also dedicated a passenger hotline number which is toll-free. The number is 1800 5691 444 to provide more information.
