Apple iPhone 15: Since the release of the iPhone 15 last week, there have been multiple reports of overheating issues, with some users finding their devices too hot to handle. Apple has acknowledged the potential for the iPhone 15 Pro to become very hot and even mentioned it theoretically having the power to 'burn a hole' through the back.
Overheating issues
Warnings have emerged regarding the use of Android USB-C chargers, as they may exacerbate iPhone 15 overheating problems. An Apple store in China issued a caution to iPhone 15 users, advising against using USB-C cables that come with Android devices or are specifically designed for Android mobiles.
The concern arises from the design of Android-specific USB-C cables, which have a smaller gap between the single-row 9-pin and single-row 11-pin connectors. This configuration could increase the likelihood of overheating issues when used with iPhone 15 models.
Multiple Apple-exclusive stores in China have reportedly issued similar warnings, suggesting a potential connection between the choice of cable and overheating concerns. Critics, however, have raised the possibility that Apple's warnings could serve as a means to encourage iPhone 15 users to purchase Apple's own USB-C cables, which are priced higher than their Android counterparts.

Notably, there have been no reported incidents of an iPhone 15's USB-C port melting due to the use of an Android cable. The Apple user guide does not explicitly mention avoiding Android USB-C cables, but it does advise against charging the iPhone by connecting it to a keyboard unless the keyboard has a high-power USB port.
