BHEL appoints Koppu Sadashiv Murthy as Chairman and MD

BHEL's new Chairman: Koppu Sadashiv Murthy has officially taken charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL). He succeeds Nalin Shinghal, who held the position of CMD since July 8, 2019.

Prior to his appointment as CMD, Murthy served as the Executive Director of the Corporate Operations Management Group at BHEL, as stated by the company in an official announcement.

An Electrical Engineering graduate from Bhopal University, holding an MBA in Finance, Murthy began his journey with BHEL in 1989 at the company's Jhansi manufacturing unit. Over his 34-year tenure at BHEL, he has cultivated a broad spectrum of competencies in strategic planning, operational management, project execution, and commercial aspects.

The board of BHEL approved Murthy's appointment as Chairman and Managing Director on Monday.

On May 23, BHEL received communication from the Ministry of Heavy Industries, conveying the approval of the Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC) for Murthy's appointment as the CMD.
