China consumption: China's state council on Saturday issued guidelines to promote the consumption of services such as catering, housekeeping, and nursery services for the aged and toddlers.
Culture and entertainment such as movies and sports events are among the sectors to be encouraged by the government as it seeks to stimulate consumption, according to a government statement.
China will also strengthen market regulation and improve standards for service products, it added.
The guidelines focus on several areas to stimulate consumption, including catering services, housekeeping, and nursery services for both the elderly and toddlers. To rejuvenate the food and beverage industry, the government plans to promote dining out and support new restaurant ventures, addressing the sector's recent economic challenges. Enhancements in housekeeping services will aim to improve both quality and accessibility, thereby boosting consumer spending. Additionally, the guidelines emphasize expanding and improving nursery services, including daycare and early childhood education for young children, as well as elderly care facilities, to meet the increasing demand for quality care.
