Japan market reopens for first session of New Year

Japan's Nikkei 225 index opened 131.40 points lower on Monday, the first trading day of 2021.

The fall in the Tokyo Stock Exchange market comes as the Japanese government considers declaring a second state of emergency for Tokyo and its neighbouring prefectures to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
