Ladla Bhai Yojna: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced the 'Ladla Bhai Yojana', a new initiative aimed at supporting young men who have completed their 12th-grade education in the state.

Under the Ladla Bhai scheme, youth in Maharashtra will engage in a one-year apprenticeship within factories. This initiative aims to equip them with valuable work experience, enhancing their prospects for future employment opportunities.

The scheme, following the earlier 'Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana' for girls, seeks to tackle unemployment by providing financial assistance directly to eligible male beneficiaries.

What is Ladla Bhai Yojna?

Under the Ladla Bhai Yojana, students who have passed their 12th-grade exams will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 6,000. Those with a diploma will be eligible for Rs 8,000 per month, while graduates will receive Rs 10,000 monthly, according to the reports.

Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to undertake a one-year apprenticeship in factories, gaining valuable practical experience aimed at enhancing their employability.

According to the Government of Maharashtra, the scheme will benefit over 1 million youths and the government will spend around Rs 10,000 crore to implement the scheme, according to the report.

Announcement before elections

Chief Minister Shinde underlined that this initiative marks a historic step towards creating a skilled workforce, noting its potential impact on employment generation. The announcement was strategically made ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections set to take place in latter part of this year.

In parallel, the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana aims to empower women aged 21 to 60 years with a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500, focusing on their holistic development, economic independence, and overall well-being.
