Sony unveils handheld gaming device PlayStation Portal

Sony PlayStation Portal: Sony has unveiled the PlayStation Portal remote player, set to release later this year at a price of $199.99 (approximately Rs 16,500).
The device enables gamers to play their PS5 games remotely on an 8-inch LCD screen featuring HD visuals, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback. The new Sony PlayStation Portal’s screen is capable of 1080p resolution at 60 fps. Sony assures users that this device will provide the high-definition visual experience expected from top-quality games.
Target audience
According to Sony, the device is useful for gamers in households where sharing the living room TV is necessary or when playing PS5 games in another room is preferred. The PlayStation Portal establishes a remote connection to the user’s PS5 through WiFi, allowing transitions between playing on the PS5 and the Portal.

Supported games installed on the PS5 console can be played on the Portal using the Dualsense controller. The device also features a 3.5mm audio jack for wired audio. Games that require the PS VR2 headset and those streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium's cloud streaming are not compatible.

Audio products
Additionally, Sony is launching two new audio products: the Pulse Elite wireless headset and the Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. These products incorporate a new technology known as PlayStation Link for delivering low-latency, high-quality audio.
The Pulse Elite headset offers lossless audio, a retractable boom microphone, and noise rejection. On the other hand, the Pulse Explore earbuds provide a premium portable audio experience with dual microphones and noise rejection.

These audio devices connect to the PlayStation Portal via PlayStation Link technology. This innovation allows them to connect to the users’ PS5, PC, Mac, or Bluetooth-supported mobile device simultaneously, aiming to enhance the audio experience during gameplay and create a more immersive environment.
In terms of pricing, the Pulse Explore earbuds are priced at $199 (approximately Rs 16,430), while the Pulse Elite comes at a slightly lower price of $149 (approximately Rs 12,399).
