Dunzo delays salary payouts again: Amid reports of cash crunch, Dunzo has cited the current business situation to its employees and said the remaining salaries for June and July would be paid by February 2024. It said that the payout would include an interest of 12 per cent per annum based on the employees' service period. The communication to employees was made through an internal email, as reported by YourStory.

The former employees of Dunzo will be receiving their remaining payments, including salaries for the days served in August and September , by January-February 2024, according to the email mentioned in the report.

"We are working towards ensuring all pending salaries are paid at the earliest. However, we regret to inform you that given the present business situation, the revised timelines by which we will clear pending dues, including salaries for the months of June and July, if any, is January-February 2024," the email to employees stated.

"Once again, we apologize for this delay. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding, and we reassure you that we are doing our best to resolve this issue," the company added.

Not the first time

In July, Reliance Retail-backed Dunzo deferred payments to 500 employees, or 50 per cent of its workforce, and capped salary payouts at Rs 75,000 per employee. Later, Dunzo held a town hall with employees and promised that pending salaries would be cleared by September 4.

In August, Dunzo sent another mail to its employees saying the pending salaries for the months of June and July would be paid in October.

“Please note that pending salaries for the months of June and July, due to be paid on September 4th, will be paid in the first week of October. You will receive the salary dues along with a 12 percent p.a. interest, which will now be calculated for an additional month,” said the email according to media reports.

And now, the payout date has now been moved to January-February 2024.

In September, it was reported that Dunzo had tied up with payroll financing firm OneTap to disburse August salaries.

Two of Dunzo's co-founders—Dalvir Suri and Mukund Jha—have been said to have exited the Bengaluru-based firm recently, as it battles a severe liquidity crisis. While Dunzo hasn't denied the news about the exit of Suri, it has denied Jha's exit and added that Jha would remain an integral part of the leadership while the company undergoes restructuring.
