JSW Infrastructure has secured a contract worth Rs 4,119 crore ($495 million) for a port development project in Karnataka, southern India. This project in Keni aims to establish an initial capacity of 30 million metric tonnes per year (MTPA), as confirmed by the JSW Group company.
Currently, JSW Infrastructure manages operations across nine state port concessions on India's west and east coasts, having a total capacity of 158.4 MTPA. The company aims to double this capacity by 2030.
The upcoming Keni port is designed to handle cape-size vessels, specifically bulk carriers used for transporting coal, ores, and various raw materials.
This contract marks a significant milestone for JSW Infrastructure post its stock market debut on October 3. Since going public, the company's stock has surged over 70 per cent, partly due to increased cargo volumes contributing to higher quarterly profit.
