New Delhi: The Indian Navy and IIT Bombay have agreed on an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce a special MTech program in 'Systems & Control Engineering,' stated defence officials.

The signing of the MoU took place in New Delhi, with Rear Admiral K Srinivas, Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyard & Refit) representing the Indian Navy, and Professor Srikant Sukumar from IIT Bombay's Systems and Control Engineering department.

As per the Defence Ministry, this partnership aims to help naval personnel pursue higher education starting in 2024, addressing the growing need for automation in naval ships. The program intends to train individuals in managing advanced control systems crucial for operating the latest machinery on warships and submarines. Additionally, this collaboration is expected to encourage research in marine applications, as highlighted by the Ministry of Defence.
