Rajouri: Paying tribute to the four jawans, who were martyred in the Poonch attack last week, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh turned emotional and choked up. "I would pray for the speedy recovery of the army personnel who sustained injuries. I would like to ensure you that keeping in mind the severity of the incident, required steps are being taken. Each of our army personnel is important to us...", told Singh.

Week after the surprise attack on the army convoy, the Indian Army has decided to deploy additional troops in Rajouri's Poonch. According to sources, induction of specialised troops in the region is underway. The terrorists, who were behind the attack, are still at large.

Earlier, Singh reached Rajouri on day-long tour of Jammu and Kashmir to review the security situation in the wake of a recent terrorist ambush in the border district of Poonch.

Singh, accompanied by Army Chief General Manoj Pande, was received by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and General Officer Commanding-in-chief, northern command, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi at the technical airport, the officials said.

Soon after his arrival, the Defence Minister left for Rajouri-Poonch sector where he is scheduled to review the security situation and the counter-terrorist operation which is going on in the region following the December 21 ambush at Dhatyar Morh between Dhera Ki Gali and Buffliaz in Poonch.
