India has exported 45.59 lakh metric tonnes worth $4787.48 million in 2022-2023 against export of 39.48 LMT worth $3540.40 million in FY22, MoS Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel said in the Parliament. Replying to a question, Patel added that the export of Parboiled rice shot up from 61.73 LMT in FY21 to 78.46 LMT in FY23. 

According to her, exports of non-parboiled rice have also jumped from 42.40 LMT in FY21 to 64 LMT in FY23. India has been exporting Basmati, parboiled rice, broken Rice and non-basmati Rice during the last three years. 
Quantitatively, Iran was the top importer of basmati rice from India, followed by Saudi Arabia, followed by Iraq and UAE.  Benin, Guinea, Togo and Somalia are the top importer of parboiled rice from India. In the non-parboiled rice category, Benin, Madagascar, Kenya, and Cote D Ivoire are the top importers. 

The government has not announced any product-specific targets for parboiled and raw rice. “The quantum of exports in a year is normally a function of multiple factors including international prices, demand, eportable, surplus. Prohibition of export has only been imposed on non-basmati white rice and broken rice. Export of Basmati and parboiled non-basmati rice is continuing,” Patel said.
