Subodh Kumar, the Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), has been summoned by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to provide explanations regarding the recent controversies surrounding the NEET-UG 2024 examination. Kumar is scheduled to appear at Shastri Bhawan at 2 PM today to address concerns related to the alleged irregularities and paper leak accusations during the exam.
The NEET-UG 2024 exam has been fraught with allegations, particularly regarding the leakage of question papers and other misconduct. These issues have sparked outcry among students, parents, and educators, prompting calls for a thorough investigation into the matter.
Simultaneously, the Supreme Court has taken a pivotal step in the NEET-UG 2024 controversy by issuing notices to the NTA and the Central government to respond till July 8. The notices were issued in response to a plea filed before the apex court, highlighting widespread concerns over the fairness and integrity of the examination process.
NEET Paper Leak Confirmed: Arrested Candidate Confesses Using Leaked Papers
Anurag Yadav, a NEET candidate recently arrested for alleged exam irregularities, confessed that the leaked question paper he obtained matched the actual exam paper. The 22-year-old medical aspirant detailed in his confession that his relative, Sikandar Prasad Yadavendu, assured him of arrangements being made for the exam, mentioning his ability to leak question papers to aid students.
During a meeting at Bihar's Danapur Town Council office with Yadavendu and Nitish Kumar, Yadav revealed discussions where Yadavendu requested help to pass several NEET candidates in exchange for a sum of 30-32 lakh rupees. Yadav instructed Yadavendu to bring four students on May 4, 2024, providing them with the leaked NEET question paper and answers to study. Subsequently, upon Yadavendu's arrest, Yadav and others were apprehended, leading to the seizure of exam admit cards and burnt remnants of the question paper from their residences.
