Dharmendra Pradhan has been reappointed as the Minister of Education in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term, continuing his previous role in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Pradhan, a veteran member of the Union Council of Ministers, has held significant portfolios in the past, including petroleum and natural gas.

The Modi 3.0 government, comprising 72 members with 30 cabinet ministers and five ministers of state (independent charge), was sworn in by President Droupadi Murmu. This cabinet reshuffle is part of the government's ongoing efforts to streamline administration and address the nation’s key sectors effectively.

Pradhan's reappointment reflects confidence in his leadership and experience. During his previous terms, he has been instrumental in initiating and implementing various educational reforms and skill development programs. The Ministry of Education, which he heads, is crucial as it encompasses the Department of School Education and Literacy and the Department of Higher Education. These departments are responsible for primary, secondary, and higher secondary education, adult education and literacy, university-level education, technical education, and scholarships.

In PM Modi's first term, Ramesh Pokhriyal served as the Education Minister until July 2021, when Pradhan took over. His tenure has been marked by efforts to enhance the quality of education, increase digital learning opportunities, and bridge the gap between traditional education and modern skill requirements.

As Pradhan embarks on his third term, expectations are high for continued progress in educational reforms and skill development initiatives. The focus will likely remain on integrating technology in education, expanding access to quality education, and aligning educational outcomes with the evolving needs of the economy.

Pradhan’s portfolio in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will also play a critical role in shaping the workforce of the future, aiming to equip young Indians with the skills necessary to thrive in a global economy.
