NEET 2022: TN CM Stalin slams guv on anti neet bill, says Guv's job is like postman

NEET 2022: TN CM Stalin is pushing for anti-NEET bill. He called out Guv Ravi on his inaction and asked him to pass the bill for the President’s assent.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on April 25, launched a scathing attack on Governor RN Ravi over the anti-NEET Bill. The DMK President said that the State was not asking for his approval for the Bill but to send it for Presidential assent like a "postman".The Governor does not have the authority to grant his approval to the Bill, adopted in the Assembly twice during the DMK rule, seeking exemption from the ambit of the National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET) for Tamil Nadu, he said.

"We are not asking the Governor for approval of the bill. The Governor does not have the authority to do so. What we ask is, send the Bill to the President," TN CM said. Quoting the DK Chief Professor Veeramani, CM Stalin stated that the Governor “should do the job of a postman” in reference to the NEET ban bill being sent to the President. to be noted that the Anti-NEET Bill has been passed in the Tamil Nadu Assembly twice. Soon after it was passed for the first time, the Governor returned the bill to the assembly. The mentioned that it goes against the interest of the students.

Addressing the DMK event organised to speak against neet, Tamil Nadu CM stated that the governor should do his job, and send across the bill to the president. He said, "I am not asking for approval of the governor. he doesn’t have the power to approve. I am asking him to send the bill to the president, just like professor (veeramani) said, he is supposed to do the postman job,”

"It isn't apt for a person of his stature/position to refuse to send the draft bill. a nominated guv, sending back a bill that was passed by an assembly elected by eight crore people, can we claim democracy prevails in the country ?" stated Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin.
