NIRF Rankings 2024: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has retained its second position among universities in the NIRF rankings 2024. The JNU is ranked 10th in the overall category in the Ministry of Education's National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. The rankings were announced by Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday.
In the year 2023 as well, JNU was ranked 10th in the overall category and bagged 2nd rank among all Indian universities in the NIRF rankings. In the year 2022 as well, the Jawaharlal Nehru University retained its position as the country's second best university while Jamia Millia Islamia rose to the third spot from its sixth position last year, according to the Ministry of Education's National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
Seven IITs -- Madras, Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee and Guwahati -- figured in the top 10 in the overall rankings.

The ranking framework evaluates Indian institutions on five broad generic groups of parameters of teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity and perception. Ranks are assigned based on the total sum of marks assigned for each of these five broad groups of parameters.
