In a major development only days ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Bollywood actor and 'PM Narendra Modi' star Vivek Oberoi features in the list of 40-star campaigners for the Bharatiya Janata Party for Gujarat elections. The actor's name features at the 40th position in the list among Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah, Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj and others.

This development has come only days after Vivek Oberoi appeared on the livewire edition of 'Poochta Hai Bharat - Arnab Ke Saath' on Republic Bharat. During the debate, Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami questioned the Bollywood actor on being alleged as a "BJP stooge" by several Opposition leaders including Congress leader Kapil Sibal in the light of his upcoming film PM Narendra Modi, which is a biopic on PM Modi.

Responding to the question, Vivek Oberoi made it clear that he is not from BJP, but with the country:

“I want to make it clear from, that I am not with BJP, I am with my country India. Whatever is good for my country is good for me. I believe in this nation.”

Later, on being asked if the Bharatiya Janata Party told him to act in the movie or called him to make a movie on PM Modi, he said:

"If this logic is valid, Kapil Sibal is a big man, a knowledgeable man, but if this logic is valid, then why is Congress wasting time and money in campaigning. They should instead make a film. Sit and produce a film. If you think that one can win an election by making a film, a film can do a turnaround of the election scene, then why are you doing such a hard work in campaigning?"
