After Mayawati and chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Election Commission has issued a show-cause notice to Maneka Gandhi over her polarising speech.

In a contentious communal statement, BJP leader Maneka Gandhi has asked Muslim voters in her constituency of Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, to back her in the Lok Sabha elections saying that she won't help them if she doesn't get their support.

Gandhi was speaking on Thursday in her rally when she made the despicable statement.

"I am winning for sure but if I win without the support of Muslims then I would feel really bad and when Muslims come to me for work then I feel there is no point of helping them as after all giving employment is a give-and-take and it is not that we are like Mahatma Gandhi as we continue to help them but don't win in the elections. Spread this message everywhere," she said.

BSP supremo  Mayawati was served a notice by the Election Commission on Thursday for her speech in Deoband (Sahranpur) in Uttar Pradesh where urged Muslim voters to vote for the BSP-SP-RJD coalition.

The notice by the EC says that the "widely published" statement violates the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct and adds that it also willfully disobeys a Supreme Court order where it has held that religion and caste cannot be used for electioneering.

The poll body taking cognisance of chief minister Yogi Adityanath's communal 'Ali-Bajrangbali' and 'green virus' jibe also issued a notice.

The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath addressing a rally in Meerut calling out the Opposition and the Congress party said that 'if they believe in Ali, we also believe in Bajrangbali' on April 9.

Furthermore, the chief minister cited how other parties speak in favour of a 'certain group'. He said, "They want to throw a green virus to engulf the nation. West Uttar Pradesh need not come under the effect of this green virus. In East Uttar Pradesh we have already wiped out the virus, now in the West, we will demolish Congress'SP's BSP's RLD's 'green virus' from here..."
