A day after Bharatiya Janata Party released its manifesto 'Sankalp Patra' on Monday, BJP senior leader Subramanian Swamy attacked the "Kashmiri extremists" by highlighting BJP's forward stance on national security.

The manifesto declares 'Nation First' and makes a range of promises regarding ''Zero tolerance approach to Terrorism', welfare of soldiers, action against left-wing extremism, the Citizenship Amendment Bill and the Article 370 and 35-A pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir.

Referring to the same, Subramanian Swamy wrote on Twitter: "BJP Manifesto where it deals with J&K has set the pants of Kashmiri extremists on fire. "

Some of the highlights on promises of National security in the BJP's 'Sankalp Patra' are:

  • 'We will continue the policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and extremism and will continue to follow our policy of giving free hand to our security forces in combating terrorism'.
  • 'We will speed up the purchases of outstanding defence-related equipment and weapons.'
  • 'We have demonstrated our commitment to the welfare of our veterans with the implementation of long-delayed One Rank, One Pension (OROP). We promise to create a more effective framework for the resettlement of our armed forces veterans.'
  • 'We will expeditiously complete the National Register of Citizens process on priority.'
  • 'We are committed to enactment of Citizenship Amendment Bill for the protection of individuals of religious minority communities from neighbouring countries escaping persecution.'
  • 'We are committed to annulling 35-A of the Constitution of India as the provision is discriminatory against non-permanent residents and women of Jammu and Kashmir. '

'The BJP should not play with fire when it comes to the special status of Jammu and Kashmir', PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said on Monday and warned that abrogating Article 370 would lead to freedom for the state from India.

Reacting to the Bharatiya Janata Party's manifesto, in which the party has reiterated its commitment to abrogate Article 370 and annul Article 35A of the Constitution, the former Chief Minister said:

"If you free Jammu and Kashmir from Article 370, you will free the state from country as well. I have said many times that Article 370 links J&K with the country. When you break this bridge, India loses its legitimacy over the state. It becomes an occupational force".

Earlier, Mufti said the Indian constitution would not be applicable to the state if Article 370 was abrogated. "Why waste time in court. Wait for BJP to scrap Article 370. It will automatically debar us from fighting elections since Indian constitution won't be applicable to J&K anymore," she said in a tweet.
