Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Congress party has released its manifesto for 2019, encapsulating the crucial issues the party promises to address, including corruption.
To speak about the manifesto briefly, the party has included issues of global warming, education, sedition laws, LGBTQIA+ community and a separate emphasis to Jammu & Kashmir among others.
Congress dedicated space to anti-corruption in their manifesto, that involved enforcing laws without any bias, they swore to investigate deals of the PM Modi led BJP government and finally to bring back economic fugitives like Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya, Mehul Choksi back to India.
They included three points:
1. Anti-corruption laws
Congress will enforce anti-corruption laws without discrimination.
2. Rafale deal
Congress will cause to be investigated several deals entered into by the BJP government in the last 5 years and, in particular, the Rafale deal.
3. Scamsters
Congress will also investigate the circumstances under which a number of scamsters were allowed to leave the country and will take determined steps to bring them back and face legal proceedings.
Following the release of the manifesto on Tuesday, Union Minister Arun Jaitley held a press conference and dissected Congress' manifesto
He said, "The Congress party made public its manifesto for 2019 elections. the manifesto contains a solemn statement of the Congress president that whenever he makes a promise, he never breaks it. But when out of ignorance he makes unimplementable and dangerous promises. I am sure the country will not be in the mood to oblige him with the kind of promises which are contained in this manifesto," Arun Jaitley said.
Speaking on the promises made for the state of Jammu and Kashmir in the manifesto, he stated that some of the promises are 'positively dangerous'. Accentuating on Congress's promise of removing sedition, a law which has become redundant, according to Congress, Arun Jaitley says that with this promise Congress does not deserve even a single vote.
