"Vote for India's soul": Here's Rahul Gandhi's message for voters as the Lok Sabha elections 2019 Phase 1 kicks off

With the biggest celebration of the democracy underway in India, Congress president Rahul Gandhi took to social media and urged voters to vote the 'soul of India'.

With the biggest celebration of the democracy underway in India, Congress president Rahul Gandhi took to social media and urged voters to vote the 'soul of India'. Taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi posted a tweet, taking a jibe at the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, asking people to 'vote wisely' in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 on Thursday.

"You vote today for the soul of India. For her future. Vote wisely," wrote Rahul Gandhi on his official Twitter handle.

On Wednesday, the Congress president filed his nomination papers for the Amethi Lok Sabha seat along with UPA president Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra by his side. He was also accompanied by Priyanka's husband Robert Vadra.

This election, Rahul Gandhi is contesting a second seat, Wayanad, in Kerala where he had filed his papers on April 4.

On April 11, 20 states go to polls with 91 Parliamentary seats in the first Phase of the Lok Sabha elections. 

Voting for the 543 Lok Sabha seats is be held in seven phases: April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19. Counting will be done on May 23.
