Mehbooba Mufti alleges 'manhandling' of voters in Jammu; says "BJP shows their desperation and hunger to usurp power"

Controversies loom over as the country goes to polls to exercise their role in the largest democracy in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections. 

The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir in a tweet shared an incident alleging that a voter at the polling booth in Jammu had been manhandled by the Border Security Force (BSF) upon refusal to cast his vote to the BJP. 

PDP chief in an attack to the party's former ally stated that the BJP is 'using' the Armed Forces to constrain people to vote, thus showing their 'desperation and hunger' to seize power. 

In the video, people could be seen chanting against the BJP at the polling booth.

She tweeted: A voter at polling booth in Jammu was manhandled by the BSF because he refused to cast his vote for BJP. Using armed forces at polling stations to coerce people to vote for the BJP shows their desperation & hunger to usurp power by hook or crook.

Earlier, in the list of controversies, a TDP councilor Shiv Shankar Yadav was seen distributing cash to voters outside a police station in  Nandamuri Nagar in Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh.

While in cases of EVM tampering, BSP candidate from Uttar Pradesh Malook Nagar claimed that voters despite pressing the BSP button, the vote is going to the BJP candidate.

Voters are in Muzaffarnagar have said that EVM machines are not working in the booths. MP Sanjeev Balyan (who is also BJP candidate from Muzaffarnagar) said that EVMs are not working in most of the polling booths. However, the officials have said that EVMs are working and there is no need for concern. 

Whereas, a Jana Sena Party MLA and candidate Madhusudhan Gupta damaged an EVM by throwing it on the floor because he was angry that candidates names weren't displayed properly in Gooty of Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh.
