Reacting to the shocking attack on Delhi Chief Minister and AAP Chief, Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has lashed out at the offenders hinting that the BJP was behind the attack by calling them 'forces that have destroyed institutions and derailed federal principles.'

He also condemned the incident saying that the Delhi Police must take responsibility for such a security breach against a democratically elected Chief Minister.

SHOCKING: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Slapped During Roadshow

Earlier in the day, during a roadshow, the AAP chief stood in an open car, waving at the crowd when a man emerged out of nowhere and physically attacked Kejriwal, slapping him in the face. The assaulter was immediately caught by AAP workers.

The incident occurred in broad daylight when the Chief Minister was encircled by a crowd and his party members conducting a roadshow for AAP New Delhi constituency candidate Brijesh Gopal, who faces BJP's Meenakshi Lekhi and Congress' Ajay Maken on May 12.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the government of 'negligence in the security' for the Delhi Chief Minister and blamed the Opposition i.e. BJP for the attack

Party member, Manish Sisodia accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah of wanting to 'assassinate' Kejriwal tweeting:

( Do Modi and Amit Shah want to assassinate Arvind Kejriwal now? After 5 years of trying to break his (Kejriwal) morale, as you could not defeat him in elections, you cowards now wish to remove him from the path like this? This Kejriwal only is your end.)

The assailant has been taken into the custody and an investigation into the matter is underway, said police. DCP (West) Monika Bhardwaj said the man has been identified as Suresh, 33, and he deals in spare parts in Kailash Park.
