Ahead of the assembly elections in Telangana, BJP on Thursday released its manifesto which made several promises such as loan waivers up to Rs 2 lakh to farmers and free laptops to degree students for the people. However, beside these promises, there's one promise in the BJP's Telangana manifesto that is making headlines.

In the manifesto, BJP has also promised to distribute one lakh cows to farmers, free of cost to every year during the time of festivals and other celebrations.

"One lakh cows would be distributed free of cost every year at the time of festivals and other celebrations," said the manifesto.

Furthermore, BJP also pledged to establish 'Gawseva Kendras(Care centres for cows)' in every district in Telangana for the benefit of cows.

The manifesto was released by Telangana BJP president K Laxman in Hyderabad on November 29 in which it also promised to regulate the prices of liquor in the state and a legislation to prevent "forcible religious conversions" which is done by offering bribes and other incentives.

Steps would be taken to send back Rohingyas and those who “illegally entered” from Bangladesh, it said.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed two major public meetings in Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar in poll-bound Telangana on November 27 where he assured that farmers' income will be doubled and every family in India will get their own house by 2022.

PM Modi also asserted that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Congress are both "family ruling parties."

"They are doing the vote bank politics. Congress and TRS brought religious fights between the public," the Prime Minister had stated.

The Telangana Assembly was dissolved prematurely in September this year on the recommendation of the ruling TRS. Telangana will go to polls on December 7 in a single phase while the counting of votes will take place on December 11.
