On the day when Lok Sabha election results are awaited, BSP Supremo Mayawati on Thursday, has reportedly planned a post-noon trip to the national capital to allegedly hold talks with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to determine the steps to be taken if results swing in favour of the SP-BSP 'gathbandhan', according to sources.

Her ally SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav is also reportedly waiting and monitoring the results before deciding on further moves to be taken for the 'gathbandhan.' If the results are in favour of the 'gathbandhan' , reports suggest that both chiefs (Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav) will leave for the capital at around 2 PM.

In case of a fractured mandate i.e, if both alliances NDA or UPA fail to cross the halfway mark of 272 seats, Yadav and Mayawati will reportedly meet major Opposition leaders in the evening. According to inside sources, SP and BSP allegedly expect that they may play a crucial role in the formation of the Central government if numbers are in their favour.

Meanwhile, senior Opposition leader and NCP chief is reportedly not planning a visit to the capital on Thursday.

Earlier, reports had suggested Mayawati had postponed her visit to New Delhi after monitoring the various exit polls which had predicted that the 'gathbandhan' would fall short of 50% of the seats in Uttar Pradesh.

On Monday, the BSP had clarified that their supremo, Mayawati will not be holding any meetings with the leaders of Opposition in the national capital on May 20. The statement from the BSP came after reports of Mayawati holding meetings with opposition parties came to force.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Senior BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra said, "Mayawati ji has no programme or meetings scheduled in Delhi today, she will be in Lucknow."

Amid Exit Poll Roadblock, Opposition Postpones Meeting To Choose PM Candidate; Mayawati Rethinks On Sonia Gandhi Visit

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party Chief Chandrababu Naidu met UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Sunday.

However, sources told Republic TV that there was a roadblock in the plan as the opposition has now rescheduled its meeting to choose their PM candidate from 23 May to May 24.

Earlier on May 19, Naidu held a second round of talks with top opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Sharad Pawar, in an apparent bid to rally support for a non-BJP government at the Centre. Sources also said that he dialled Mamta Banerjee and urged her to attend or send a representative for the meeting called Sonia meeting.

Counting of the votes will begin at 8:00 AM on Thursday.
