Sushma Swaraj urges Mulayam Singh, Akhilesh, Dimple Yadav to take action against Azam Khan over disrespectful remarks against Jaya Prada

Union Minister Sushma Swaraj has hit out at senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan over her objectionable comments against BJP candidate Jaya Prada, who is contesting the Lok Sabha poll from in Rampur in Uttar Pradesh.

Union Minister Sushma Swaraj has hit out at senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan over his objectionable comments against BJP candidate Jaya Prada, who is contesting the Lok Sabha poll from in Rampur in Uttar Pradesh. 

Taking to Twitter, the Minister for External Affair posted a tweet asking founder of Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav, party chief Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav to take cognisance of the matter. 

"Mulayam brother - You are the Pitamaha of the Samajwadi Party. In front of you, Rampur's Draupadi (Jaya Prada) is being insulted (cheer haran). Don't make the mistake of being silent like Bhisma in the matter. @yadavakhilesh Smt. Jaya Bhaduri, Mrs. Dimple Yadav," Sushma Swaraj wrote to Twitter, giving a befitting response with Mahabharata narrative.

Earlier, National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma also termed Azam Khan's alleged below-the-belt remarks against the actor as "extremely disgraceful" and said the women panel will be sending a show cause notice to him.

Reacting to Khan's remarks, she tweeted that the NCW would also be requesting the Election Commission to bar him from contesting elections. Sharma reacted after taking cognisance of another tweet by a user, who had also uploaded a video of the SP leader's purported jibe. The video of Khan making the "abusive" remarks was also doing rounds on various social media platforms.

Azam Khan on Sunday made a below the belt 'khaki' comment on Jaya Prada:

"I brought her (Jaya Prada) to Rampur. You are a witness that I did not allow anyone to touch her body. It took you 17 years to identify her real face but I got to know in 17 days that she wears khaki underp****," said Khan while addressing an election rally in Rampur.

Rampur is set to vote in the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls on April 23. The 2019 Lok Sabha Elections will be held from April 11 to May 19 in seven phases, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 23.
