Congress Indulges in Appeasement Politics: Geeta Koda

Resigning from the Congress, Geeta Koda accused the Congress party of indulging in appeasement politics and catering to just one family. "I joined the BJP today. The Congress has put the country in trouble by indulging in appeasement politics. The party says it will take everyone along, but it takes only its family along," said Geeta Koda.

Geeta Koda had joined the Congress party in 2019. Reports also suggest that Geeta Koda was unhappy with the alliance forged by the Congress party in the state.

Who is Geeta Koda?

In the 2019 general elections, when the BJP swept the polls under the 'Modi wave, the Bharatiya Janata Party along with local partner AJSU had won 12 out of 14 parliamentary seats in Jharkhand.

While Geeta Koda had defeated BJP state president Laxman Gilua with a margin of over 70,000 votes. Before this,o female candidate had ever won from Singhbhum before Geeta.

Observers suggested that Madhu Koda's campaign and Geeta Koda's popularity ensured her victory. Earlier, former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda had won Singhbhum Lok Sabha seat in 2009. Two time-MLA from Jagannathpur and now MP Geeta Kota is expected to help BJP with its shrinking base in the tribal belt of the state.
