'It's clear that Opposition parties have accepted defeat': Ram Vilas Paswan condemns attack on BJP chief Amit Shah's roadshow in Kolkata

Violent clashes broke out during BJP president Amit Shah's roadshow in the heart of Kolkata, as sticks were hurled at Shah’s truck and even at the Police who were manning the crowd.  

In an attempt to disrupt the roadshow, the attackers began attacking the Police and along with that, waved  black flags, held placards and raised anti-BJP slogans outside the University of Calcutta. 

Reacting on the same, Ram Vilas Paswan, the current Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution took to his Twitter handle to react and said: "आज पश्चिम बंगाल में भाजपा के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष श्री @AmitShah की अध्यक्षता में शांतिपूर्ण तरीके से हो रहे रोड शो में TMC के कार्यकर्ताओं ने बवाल किया है, यह अत्यंत निंदनीय है और इस बात का द्योतक है कि विपक्षी दलों ने अपनी हार कबूल कर ली है।"

In translation: "Today, TMC workers have organized a road show in peaceful manner under the chairmanship of BJP National President Shri @AmitShah in West Bengal, it is highly condemnable and indicates that the opposition parties have accepted their defeat."

In a show of strength ahead of the final phase of polls, BJP national President Amit Shah Tuesday held a massive road show in the city in support of the party's candidates.

The rally started at around 4.30 PM from Esplande area in central Kolkata to Swami Vivekananda's house in north Kolkata. Shah stood atop a decorated truck along with BJP's North Kolkata and South Kolkata candidates Rahul Sinha and Chandra Kumar Bose respectively and was seen waving at the crowds.

Tableaux highlighting the culture of various parts of the state and country were seen moving ahead of the convoy. Waving party flags, BJP supporters were heard shouting slogans like 'Jai Shri Ram', 'Narendra Modi Zindabad' and 'Amit Shah Zindabad'. People dressed as Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman were also seen in the rally.
