New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti on Saturday, June 1, said that he will shave off his head if the Bharatiya Janata Party is elected to the power for the third time. Somnath Bharti made the remarks while reacting to the exit polls released earlier this evening. While the last phase of voting concluded at 6pm, several observers released exit poll data for the 2024 Lok Sabha election predicting a hattrick for the BJP-led NDA.
Somnath Bharti is contesting as the INDI bloc from the New Delhi constituency against BJP's Bansuri Swaraj. INDI bloc partners AAP and the Congress are contesting in alliance for the first time in Delhi under a four-three seat-share formula.
Dismissing the exit poll data as “wrong", Bharti said that he will shave off his head if Narendra Modi is elected as the prime minister of the country for the third term. He claimed that all the exit polls will be proven wrong on the result day i.e. June 4. “I will shave off my head if Mr Modi becomes PM for the third time. Mark my word! All exit polls will be proven wrong on 4th June and Modi ji will not become prime minister for the third time. In Delhi, all seven seats will go to India ALLIANCE.," said Bharti in a post on X.
Bharti alleged that the media is refraining from showing the actual picture due to fear of PM Modi. "Fear of Mr Modi does not allow exit polls to show him loose. Hence we all need to wait for actual results scheduled to be delivered on June 4th. People have voted very heavily against BJP,” the Aam Aadmi Party leader said.
The Republic-PMarq exit poll predicted a hattrick for the the Bharatiya Janata Party in the national capital in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. As per the Republic-PMarq, the BJP is likely to win all the 7 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi. However, the Republic-Matrize exit poll also suggests that the AAP-Congress alliance may win 2 seats in the national capital and BJP may be contained on 5 seats.
As per the Exit Polls, The BJP is expected to gain 58.2 per cent of the votes, while the AAP is likely to get 22.1 per cent. As per the exit poll data, Congress stands as a distant third with just 17.8 per cent of the vote share.
Leaders of several INDI bloc parties met on Saturday at the residence of Mallikarjun Kharge in the national capital and took stock of the opposition's preparations leading up to the June 4 counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha elections. INDI leaders asserted they will get more than 295 seats, enough for them to form the next government. Addressing the media after two-and-a-half-hour confabulations at his residence, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the INDIA bloc has arrived at the 295-plus figure after feedback from people, which he termed "people's survey".
Following this, the INDI bloc has dismissed the exit polls prediction. “These are Narendra Modi's exit polls. The exit poll from the public gives 295 seats to I.N.D.I.A, and this number will only increase,” said Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate.
