NDA leads in 10, Cong in 4 in Assam

The ruling BJP and its allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United Peoples' Party Liberal (UPPL), is leading in 10 and opposition Congress in four of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam on Tuesday, according to election officials.

BJP is ahead in eight constituencies with Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Dibrugarh, Rajya Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa in Kaziranga, MLA Ranjit Dutta in Tezpur, sitting MP Pradan Baruah in Lakhimpur, Bijuli Kalita Medhi in Guwahati, Dilip Saikia in Darrang-Udalguri, Amar Sing Tisso in Diphu (ST) and Parimal Suklabaidya in Silchar (SC) taking leads over their nearest rivals.

BJP leads in six, Cong in 4 of 14 LS seats in Assam

The BJP was leading in six Lok Sabha seats and the opposition Congress was ahead in four in Assam, stated initial trends.

For BJP, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Dibrugarh, Rajya Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa in Kaziranga, MLA Ranjit Dutta in Tezpur, sitting MP Pradan Baruah in Lakhimpur, Bijuli Kalita Medhi in Guwahati and Amarsing Tisso in Diphu were leading in the initial round.

Congress' Gaurav Gogoi in Jorhat, sitting Nagaon MP Prodyut Bordoloi, MLA Rakibul Hussain in Dhubri and Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury in Karimganj were leading.
