Cong forms election committees in 8 states ahead of polls, sets up war rooms for strategic campaign

Congress is gearing up for elections by establishing state committees, central war rooms, and a publicity committee for strategic campaigning.

New Delhi: The Congress party, ahead of the upcoming elections, has established election committees in eight states, according to reports on Sunday, January 7. These committees have been formed for Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, and Tripura. Additionally, a Political Affairs Committee for Madhya Pradesh has also been constituted.

An official statement released by the party read, "The Congress President has approved the proposal for the constitution of Pradesh Election Committees for Rajasthan, Kerala, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, and Tripura, and Pradesh Election Committee and Political Affairs Committee for Madhya Pradesh, with immediate effect." Telangana's Pradesh Election Committee will be chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Jitu Patwari and Govind Singh Dotasara will lead the Pradesh Election Committees for Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, respectively.

These committees feature prominent figures such as former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, former Union ministers Sachin Pilot, and Jitendra Singh among their members. The list of committee members also includes Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, Mohan Prakash, C P Joshi, Harish Choudhary, Ramlal Jat, Pramod Jain Bhaya, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, Mamta Bhupesh, Bhajan Lal Jatav, Murari Lal Meena, Ashok Chandna, Neeraj Dangi, Zubair Khan, Dheeraj Gurjar, Rajkumar Sharma, Rohit Bohra, Indra Meena, Dungar Ram Gedar, Shimla Devi Nayak, and Lalit Yadav.

According to reports, to portray a more focused and strategically planned approach, the Congress party has also established a Central War Room for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. This war room comprises an organisational war room and a communication war room. Sasikanth Senthil S will head the organisational war room, while Vaibhav Walia has been appointed as the Chairman of the Communication War Room.

Additionally, the party has formed the Publicity Committee for the upcoming General elections. This committee includes key positions such as the Treasurer of AICC as the Convenor, along with the General Secretary (Organization), General Secretary (Communication), In-charge of Administration at AICC, Chairperson of the Media and Publicity Department, Chairperson of the Social Media Department, and any Special Invitees, if required.
