BJP Heading Towards Clean Sweep in Delhi, Wins 3, Leading in 4

 BJP's Bansuri Swaraj wins New Delhi seat, defeats AAP's Somnath Bharti by margin of over 78,000 votes, said data from Election Commission. 

BJP candidate from Delhi's Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat Praveen Khandelwal defeated Congress veteran J P Agarwal by a margin of 89,325 votes. Khandelwal, a first-timer, was trailing Agarwal in the initial rounds. He secured a lead later and went on to win the seat.

He was fielded by the BJP in place of outgoing MP Harsh Vardhan. The BJP won all seven seats in Delhi in the 2014 and the 2019 general elections, and is set to repeat the feat this time too.

BJP's Ramvir Singh Bidhuri won the South Delhi seat, defeating AAP's Sahi Ram Pahalwan by a margin of 1,24,333 votes. Bidhuri is the leader of opposition in the Delhi Assembly.

He was fielded by the BJP in place of outgoing MP Ramesh Bidhuri. 

BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh was seen playing 'Dhol' at the BJP headquarters as he celebrated BJP's victory in the Lok Sabha elections along with party workers.

Celebrations have begun outside Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters in Delhi as the party leads in 244 seats in Lok Sabha elections. The party is also leading on all 7 seats in the national capital. 

BJP MP and party's candidate from North East Delhi, Manoj Tiwari said, "I would like to thank PM Modi, top leadership and the people of the constituency. They all have blessed me well. We are winning all the seven seats of Delhi. We are forming the govt in the country as well. Certainly, it's not something that we have expected but this tally will increase and we will cross 300...NDA is united and will move forward together in the service of the people of the country."

BJP's North-West Delhi candidate Yogender Chandoliya is the best performing candidate of the party in the national capital and is leading by was leading by 1,24,334 votes against the Congress' Udit Raj, the Election Commission data showed.

Counting of postal ballots are underway at a counting centre in Chandni Chowk Parliamentary constituency in Delhi. 

Counting of votes polled in Delhi's seven Lok Sabha constituencies began on Tuesday, June 4, amid a three-tier security cordon at counting centres. A total of 7,000 personnel is deployed at the seven counting centres.

The counting centres are located at SKV, Bharat Nagar, for the Chandni Chowk constituency; ITI, Nand Nagri, for North East Delhi; Sports Complex, CWG Village, for East Delhi; Atal Adarsh Balika Vidyalaya, Gole Market, for New Delhi; DTU, Shahbad Daulatpur, for North West Delhi; NSUT, Dwarka, for West Delhi; and Jijabai ITI for Women, Siri Fort, for South Delhi.

"It is a big day today for the country's democracy and Constitution. Today, it will be decided whether the democracy will be saved or not. The kind of wave we saw in the public, that wanted to defeat the BJP, I believe we will see an amazing result this time and INDIA alliance will form government," said AAP leader and party candidate from New Delhi Lok Sabha seat Somnath Bharti ahead of counting of votes today.

BJP's Chandni Chowk candidate Praveen Khandelwal offered prayer at the Gauri Shankar Temple in Delhi on Tuesday before beginning of counting of votes.

Dlehi Congress wokers protested in the national capital alleging that the election process is just a formality and the result has already been decided. Delhi Congress worker Jagdish Sharma said, "I have already said 6 days ago that the election has been looted, it (counting of vote) is just a formality because the people of the country believe in the Constitution system. All Congress party leaders will come but I will not wait for the Constitutional result... We have been losing for 10 years and still, we are fighting, fighting every day... My leaders are standing with the people, they are true to their work."

The BJP had won all the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi in the 2014 and the 2019 polls. In the last elections, BJP candidates in each of the seats polled more votes than Congress and AAP candidates combined.

The Republic-PMarq Exit Poll has predicted a clean sweep by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, projecting them to secure victory in all seven seats. The Republic-Matrize Exit Poll, on the other hand, gave 5 seats to the BJP and 2 to the AAP-Congress alliance.
