On Tuesday, soon after voting began for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Chief Election Commission Rajiv Kumar said, "The counting process is underway at all the places. We have given strict instructions to all the DMs, SPs and COs (central observers) that the process of counting is done transparently and as per rulebook."

Jadavpur, An AITC Stronghold Since 2009

Jadavpur has been a stronghold for the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) since 2009, winning the constituency three consecutive times.

In 2014, AITC’s Dr. Sugata Bose contested from Jadavpur, securing a significant victory with 584,244 votes, defeating CPM’s Dr. Sujan Chakraborty.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Mimi Chakraborty won again by securing 688,472 votes, defeating Anupam Hazra of the BJP.
