Mandi Election Result 2024 LIVE UPDATES: Vote counting for the Mandi Lok Sabha seat will begin at 8 am. While all 4 seats of Himachal Pradesh will be closely monitored, Mandi will be in the spotlight as actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, a BJP candidate, makes her electoral debut. Kangana is facing competition from Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh, son of 6-time Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh late Virbhadra Singh and Pratibha Singh. Notably, Vikramaditya's mother, Pratibha, secured a seat in the Lok Sabha in the Indian general elections of 2004 by defeating BJP candidate Maheshwar Singh. She was also elected from the same seat in the 2013 (By Poll) elections and in 2021. So it will be interesting to witness if the first-time candidate Kangana can sweep the long-standing legacy of Singh's family.

  • Kangana also thanked legislative party leader Jairam Thakur for her upcoming win in the Mandi Lok Sabha election. During the press conference, she said, "Today was very special for me as this was my first election. And this is my first victory for which I want to thank our legislative party leader Jairam Thakur ji, who led the entire campaign, all our workers and leaders. I extend my biggest regards to the people of Mandi. Who supported their daughter, their sister. I want to assure them I will always be ready to serve the people of Mandi," says BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi Lok Sabha seat Kangana Ranaut as he leads from the seat.
  • As Kangana is leading the counting chart in Mandi, the actress said they “fought this election in the name of Narendra Modi.” She added, “It is the result of his credibility and his guarantee and the faith of people in him that we are going to form the government for the third time.” Notably, the BJP is leading in all four parliamentary constituencies in Himachal Pradesh. Kangana is set to defeat Vikramaditya.
  • Kangana Ranaut leads by over 73,000 votes, as per ECI.
  • 1st-time contender Kangana Ranaut is likely to defeat the prince of Mandi, Vikramaditya Singh, as she leads by 72,767 votes over Congress, as per ECI.
  • Vikramaditya Singh had contested two assembly elections in the past but this is his first bid for a parliamentary seat.

  • On Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh's comments, Kangana said that she will continue to serve people in Mandi even if she is in Mumbai. “Mandi has not taken kindly to the insults for daughters. As far as my departure to Mumbai is concerned, this (Himachal Pradesh) is my janmabhoomi and I will continue to serve people here. So, I am not going anywhere. Perhaps, someone else will have to pack their bags and leave. I am not going anywhere,” she told ANI.
  • As Kangana Ranaut continues to lead the counting chart, the actress offers prayers at her residence in Mandi. As per the latest ECI trends, she is leading from the seat by a margin of 30,254 votes. Counting is underway.
  • Amid Kangana Ranaut trailing in Mandi, Vikramaditya Singh said that the result will be in their favour. He said, "The results will be good, it (counting) has just begun...All will be well...Exit Polls were manufactured by media, so it had not authenticity, today's verdict will be of India, of Himachal Pradesh...We will match the numbers stated by the leaders of INDIA Alliance..."
  • As the counting begins, Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh, along with his mother and state Congress chief Pratibha Singh, offers prayers at Jakhu Hanuman Temple in Shimla.

Past Result

BJP's Ram Swaroop Sharma won with 647,189 votes, defeating Congress' Ashray Sharma and CPI (M)'s Dilip Singh Kayath. The constituency has a total of 1,281,462 electors and voter turnout was recorded at 73.6 per cent.
