Mumbai North Central Election Result 2024 LIVE: Vote counting for the Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha seat will began at 8 AM. The Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha constituency, renowned for its diverse demographic composition spanning from slum inhabitants to Bollywood luminaries, is poised for a significant electoral contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC). BJP’s Ujwal Nikam is set to face Varsha Gaikwad of the Indian National Congress.   

Post the 2008 delimitation, the Mumbai North Central constituency encompasses six Vidhan Sabha segments, including Vile Parle, Chandivali, Kurla (SC), Kalina, Vandre East, and Vandre West. This constituency mirrors the diverse socio-economic fabric of India, showcasing a blend of cultures, religions, and livelihoods.

Campaign Strategies: BJP vs Congress  

Nikam, 71,is a seasoned senior criminal lawyer from Jalgaon and is recognized for his legal prowess, having served as a special public prosecutor in high-profile cases. His nomination by the BJP marks his maiden foray into parliamentary elections, replacing incumbent MP Poonam Mahajan. Meanwhile, is a prominent Dalit leader in Mumbai and as the city's Congress unit chief, Gaikwad boasts a robust political legacy, being a four-time MLA and former minister. Her decision to contest from North Central, despite initial aspirations for the South-Central constituency, can be considered an indication of her familial ties and grassroots presence.  

Leveraging Nikam's national stature as a legal luminary, the BJP positions him as a defender of national security interests. Notably, Nikam brings with him a wealth of experience from his legal career, gaining prominence beyond Maharashtra for his role in prosecuting Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab following the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Meanwhile, Gaikwad's campaign has been focused on her advocacy for marginalized communities. The Congress aimed to mobilize support by showcasing Gaikwad's Dalit identity and her commitment to local issues.

Congress candidate Varsha Gaikwad has secured Mumbai North Central with 4,45,545 votes. Meanwhile, BJP leader Ujwal Nikam stayed at the 2nd spot by a margin of 16,514 votes, securing 4,29,031 votes.
